A very nice initiative we got to know on Friday is the Abbey Physic Community Garden. It is a charity where people from Kent can meet and do simple garden works in a community.
There are three main aims: First, the project shell provide therapeutic benefits through horticultural activities. Adults of any age who suffer mental ill-health, bereavement (sorrow because of loss of a person) or physical disablements are welcome to work in this garden.
Secondly, it serves as an “inclusive project”, which means, that unhindered persons are welcome to help and work alongside these often socially-isolated people. And thirdly, it aims to provide for a simple and sane way of life, where home-made and local fruits and vegetables are cultivated by oneself. These products are also available for sale and serve as a donation to the project. It was very nice meeting this project!

what we did
We did not know anybody when we first arrived int the Community Garden. However, Giacomo is very quick in making friends and after a few minutes
of talking and introducing ourselves we have already received a kind invitation for a soup in the garden with the volunteers. They had just started to build a clay oven which they want to use to prepare pizza and bake bread. It will be one of the products they will sell in order to sustain the project. We were offered a self-made pumpkin soup. What I liked most about it, was its side dish : a salad made out of flowers and seasoned with mustard-dressing.
Lovely! Will do this myself one day in my future-life-garden.
Giacomo was interviewing many people and had some discussions about sustainable life and local economies. Later, Bruno and Giacomo helped to finish the construction of the oven, whilst I went home to do some uploads of photos. Giacomo has done a video of the construction of this oven, you will find it here.
